About the author

As a kid from Minnesota, Dr. Danielle Dixson only saw the ocean when her family visited her grandparents in Florida. At five years old, Danielle visited the Shedd Aquarium and promptly decided she wanted to become a marine biologist. She loves SCUBA diving on coral reefs, and runs a lab that works to understand how changes to the ocean affect the behavior of the animals that populate the coral reef. Sea Stories: A Butterflyfish’s Journey to Find Delicious Food is based on a research project she conducted in Fiji, where she studied the effect of too much seaweed on coral reefs and how it affects the butterflyfish.
