About the author

As a kid from Minnesota, Dr. Danielle Dixson only saw the ocean when her family visited her grandparents in Florida. At five years old, Danielle visited the Shedd Aquarium and promptly decided she wanted to become a marine biologist. She loves SCUBA diving on coral reefs, and runs a lab that works to understand how changes to the ocean affect the behavior of the animals that populate the coral reef. Sea Stories: How the tiny gobies save their coral home is based on a research project she conducted in Fiji, where she studied what the tiny fish that live inside corals do to help out the coral when harmful seaweed starts to hurt it.
