About The Author


Jaquira Díaz was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Miami, FL. She is the Carl Djerassi Fiction Fellow at the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing. Her work has been awarded a Pushcart Prize, has been selected as Notable in Best American Essays 2012, and will be anthologized in Girls on Fire and Sins and Needles: Writers and their Tattoos. She was a Tennessee Williams Scholar in fiction at the Sewanee Writers' Conference, and her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Pushcart Prize XXXVII: Best of the Small Presses, The Kenyon Review, The Sun, The Southern Review, Southeast Review, and The Los Angeles Review, among other publications.
