Jim Patrico is a photojournalist who trained at the University of Missouri School of Journalism and practiced his craft in the Peace Corps, business journalism, newspapers and, for more than 40 years, at farm magazines. He's a recipient of a Henry R. Luce Award, a Master Writer for the American Agricultural Editors' Association, and an Agricultural Writer of the year for the North American Agricultural Journalists. He is a nine-time Photographer of the Year for the American Agricultural Editors' Association.

His career has taken him to every state in the union except Alaska and 23 foreign countries on five continents.

Raised in St. Louis, in 1988 he moved to a small farming town in northwest Missouri to embed himself with his subject matter. He and his wife Gretchen live in Plattsburg, Missouri.

Jim Patrico bridges the gap between urban and rural with a book of first-person stories about American farmers and ranches. The 40 years that the stories span were among the most tumultuous and transformative in agricultural history. They shaped how rural Americans view the world and their fellow Americans.
