Michael Munn has been building and remodeling homes since the age of 12 when he was helping his father build homes every summer. He studied Construction Technology at UF and UNF and then became one of the youngest ever to pass the Florida Certified Building Contractor exam at the age of 22. Since that time in 1989, Michael has been continually involved in luxury construction and renovations.
In 2002, his career took on a new lane when he partnered with a growing industrial hygiene firm and developed a construction inspection program designed to minimize and prevent moisture intrusion and mold issues in new homes and condo’s. Then in 2006, he founded BiltRite Inspections which continues today as Northeast Florida’s premier home inspection firm and building diagnostics consultant.
A continuous pattern emerged where clients would purchase a home and have it inspected by BiltRite and then immediately plan to undertake major renovations and updates in the home purchased. Most of the time the client only had a vague idea of what they really wanted to do with the property, and as such, had no realistic idea of what it would cost or if the plan was even feasible. This is where My Construction Coach was born. We discovered that mapping the design, scope, and details as an independent consultant provided huge advantages for clients by allowing decisions and priorities to be set without the pressure of a contractor sales process. We later learned that this method was better for contractors too…they entered the conversation with clarity and a defined project design allowing them to make more accurate estimates and cleaner budgets. This process has proven to save money and time and bring about peaceful, beautiful projects with less stress and conflict. Now we have made this method and playbook available to everyone.
