Bob Dawson, pianist-composer
Just after signing a music folio contract with Warner Bros. in 1998, Dawson made a startling scientific music discovery revealed in his book Tux Tales: 52 AnecNotes of a NYC Pianist and . . . Since 2003, Dawson’s multi-faceted musical career and familiarity with various styles led to his being “first call” pianist at numerous private clubs in NYC, including: The Union Club, Yale Club, New York Yacht Club, Century Association, River Club, Knickerbocker Club, and later the Harvard Club.
Formerly, a requested pianist for William F. Buckley Jr., Mikhail Gorbachev, Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, Duchess of York, Richard Nixon, Hugh Jackman and CEOs of various Fortune 500 companies.
Earlier in his career, before making the discovery, his musical explorations led to the creation of “Breaking The Rules®. He toured the US giving piano performances with lively dialogue outlining the relationships between various styles of music— Classical, American Songbook, jazz and so on.
In his earliest days in New York, he was hired as a Juilliard Staff accompanist and as a modern dance accompanist for the Martha Graham Dance Company School.
One career highlight in 2002 was premiering his composition, “Walkin’ in Tall Cotton” on the NBC Today Show in NYC.
