Dr. Tom Schroeder is a retired Professor of Elementary Education at Ball State University, specializing in literacy education. In his years as a teacher, Professor, and father, he has become increasingly engaged in considering the role of the home in the development of reading skills by children.  In his book, "Children Becoming Readers," Dr. Schroeder examines the importance of creating a culture of literacy in the home and leads parents to see how the home can become a critical and powerful factor in producing strong and active readers.
