Dr. Thomas Lescarbeau is a distinguished academic leader specializing in health sciences and competency-based education, with a strong background in both clinical practice, curriculum development, and higher education administration. He began his vocational education journey as a first-generation high school graduate from McCann Technical School in Western Massachusetts. He now holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of New England, a master’s in Higher Education Administration and Institutional Research & Assessment from Sam Houston State University, and a graduate certificate in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the Workforce from Cornell. His Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Education from Westfield State University, coupled with his published research related to competency-based education, and complemented by an Associate degree in Health Science, establishes a solid academic foundation that informs the content of his textbooks.

Dr. Lescarbeau has held executive leadership roles in both private corporations and academic institutions. He has served as Dean of Academic Instruction at multiple campuses where he managed multimillion-dollar budgets, led the design of multiple simulation laboratories, improved program accreditation outcomes, and increased student success. In 2024, he started Tango Lima Professional Services – a business focused on education, leadership, and innovation – where he serves as its President and CEO. He is recognized for his ability to turn around underperforming programs, develop new workforce programs, assist in securing grants, and fostering strategic partnerships. Dr. Lescarbeau’s publications and presentations focus on surgical interventions, competency-based education, and leadership in postsecondary settings. He has been actively involved in many community and professional organizations and has received awards for his contributions to education and workforce development. He is a recognized inventor for his patent-pending product, designed to drive innovation, safety, and competency-based strategy in aviation training.
