Dr. Shareyna N. James’s journey began in New Jersey, where she learned early the power of leadership, resilience, and community. A Trustee Scholar at The William Paterson University of New Jersey, she earned her B.A. in English Writing with a concentration in African, African American, and Caribbean Studies. In 2025, she earned her Doctor of Education at Rutgers University, where her research, Engineering Sisterhood, centers the voices of Black women in engineering and highlights the role of culture, community, and counterspaces in persistence. Dr. James is the author of The Test of a Woman series and a sought-after speaker on women’s empowerment, self-care, and equity in education. She continues to inspire others by using her story to champion access, belonging, and justice in education.
