Most of my life I had to fight to be seen, to be heard, to be me and through writing, I found myself, I found my voice, I found my appreciation for myself.  Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, sounding like I am straight from Alabama.  I used to question why I had a country twine, why I looked the way I looked and sound the way I sound.  I would question the words I’d heard in my mind and the rhythm within me. So, here’s bits and pieces of me, here’s a part of my heart that’s shared in this book of poetic stories that freed me from any and every insecurity I have ever had or have ever experienced.  I thank God for that, Amen!!!

I am an African American sister by the name of Marketa Shereese Blount.  I am 50 years of age and happy to engage you while looking forward to inspiring you.
