Kristy Brindley is a mother, mentor, and founder of the just1mike foundation, honoring the life and spirit of her son Michael. Her story is one of transforming loss into love, and her debut book brings Michael’s hugs to children everywhere.

Michael was the kind of kid who noticed when someone needed a little extra care, and he always knew what to do...usually with a hug. Looks Like You Need a Big Hug was inspired by the simple, loving phrase Michael would say to his family, often just when they needed it most.

Kristy wrote this story to give children a way to express care, comfort, gratitude, forgiveness and connection. The story is brought to life through the beautiful illustrations of Brendon Metcalf, whose art captures the warmth, whimsy, and heart of every hug.

After living in the Chicago area for 36 years, where she and her husband raised their boys, Kristy and Bob now live in Sonoma, California.  Kristy enjoys time with family and friends, walking her dogs, gardening, mentoring youth, and sharing Michael’s message one hug at a time.
