Janet Cheatham Bell is an author, recovering academic, publishing entrepreneur, and a grateful grandmother. After selling more than 90,000 copies, she licensed the rights of her first two self-published quotation collections to Warner Books who published Famous Black Quotations in 1995. Within the next seven years, Janet had nine books of quotations on the market.
In 2013, Henry Louis Gates acknowledged her work on national television saying, “Janet Cheatham Bell is a pioneer in doing books of black quotations.”
