Author Info

Jane Faulkner is a literature librarian at the University of California, Santa Barbara and received a master’s degree in Library and Information Science at UCLA with an emphasis in children's literature. She grew up in a family of avid readers in a house filled with books, and from an early age was taught the joy of learning about local history.

Jane has been reading and collecting books about California history since she was young, and is especially interested in the lives of women and children in California’s early days. She also has a collection of vintage alphabet books and school primers, and after moving to Solvang in 2017 and learning about the town’s unique and diverse history, Jane found a way to combine her interests to provide a short, fun guide that would introduce tourists and children to this charming town. S is for Solvang: an ABC is the result.

A former competitive cyclist and two-time California state road bike champion, Jane spent years at school in England and France and has traveled extensively across the world, but at heart she is a Californian. These days she enjoys cycling in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley with her husband Kim. Jane has three grown sons.
