The author, Maurice Landrum started his law enforcement career on May 2, 1983 with the Los Angeles Police Department. During his tenure, he worked a variety of patrol , detective, and specialized unit assignments. Including working South Bureau Homicide after being assigned to the LAPD/FBI TaskForce.  Maurice was also selected as one of three supervisors to the Southeast Gang Unit ,(C.R.A.S.H.), which stands for, "Community Resources Against Street Hoodlum."

On October 3, 2004, Maurice retired after honorably serving 21 1/2 years with the LAPD and was hired by the San Bernardino County District Attorney Office-Bureau of Investigation, as a District Attorney Senior Investigator, he would eventually be promoted to the rank of District Attorney Supervising Investigator becoming the First African American Investigator to do so in the Bureau’s history.  On December 24, 2016, after 34 years of public service in law enforcement, Maurice honorably retired for a second.

Today, Maurice is an accomplished author, who recently published the memoirs about his experiences as a Los Angeles Police Officer.  During the early eighties and nineties, it was all about, Gangsters, Narcotics, and Homicides while, “Protecting the Thin Blue Line.” This book is based on his true life story as a member of the Los Angeles Police Department.
