Michael Visser is a retired American Airlines captain whose aviation career spanned more than three decades. His novel Good Deed explores wealth, faith, desire, and betrayal in Newport Beach, California. He lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and enjoys extended visits to Thailand.
The inspiration for Good Deed came from a true story his closest friend, Jim Shab, told him.
A wealthy woman in Newport Beach had generously given money to people and charities. When she fell on hard times, she turned to those she had helped and asked for help herself. They all refused. She later took her own life in Newport Beach.
He was so incensed by that story that he decided to write a novel exploring the darker side of human nature—the betrayal of generosity and what happens when kindness is met with cruelty.
That became Good Deed.
