Lydia Cutler was born in Kiev, in the republic of the Ukraine; then a part of Soviet Union. There she would marry and have a son. Eventually, the young family was able to leave USSR. They moved from country to country, before finding a home in the United States. In America, Lydia gave birth to her second son. After graduating East-coast colleges, both young men moved to California, originally to continue their education, before settling there for good. Lydia and her husband stayed in New York, where they owned and operated a business. In 2013 both retired and they too moved to California to be closer to their children. In 2015 Lydia became a widow.
