Doug Poole never planned to write a children’s book—until his wife, Pat, spotted a sweet brindle pup named Pebbles online. At seven months old, Pebbles joined their family with a fractured leg they believed was healing. Within a day, they learned her leg couldn’t be saved. It was a hard surprise—but it never dimmed her spirit.
Three Legs, Endless Joy is Doug’s first book, written to celebrate Pebbles’ resilience and the joy rescue animals bring into our lives. Doug spent much of his career helping big organizations do something very small: keep people safe. He led safety and leadership consulting efforts for companies across industries—from oil and gas to tech to transportation—working alongside everyone from engineers to CEOs. But nothing prepared him for the determination of one three-legged dog.
Doug and Pat live in San Diego, where Pebbles continues to turn heads, inspire smiles, and remind everyone she meets that love has no limits—and neither does joy.
Pebbles' next adventure is already in the works—this time, she’s headed into the forest to meet Dash the squirrel and discover just how far friendship and curiosity can take her.
