Dave Tabar, an Ohioan with a passion for music and composition, produced the music soundtrack for the film, "Angel in a Foxhole," a production of Studio A Films LLC (Cleveland) and Dean Love Films (NYC). The short film is about "Smoky," WWII's "first therapy dog of record" and "Mascot of the Southwest Pacific" (YANK Down Under, July 1944). Smoky also became a war hero by tunneling beneath an active airstrip to deliver a communication line that was subject to enemy attack. The 4lb. Yorkshire Terrier was found in a New Guinea foxhole in 1944 and trained by Cpl. William A. Wynne of the 26th Photo Squadron, 5th U.S. Army Air Force.
Along the way, while children continued to take a keen interest in "the Smoky story," bookwriting became a labor of love for Dave. And so it was that "a coloring book for all ages" aptly titled Angel in a Foxhole was written and illustrated. The coloring book is beautifully illustrated by Samantha Williams, who took on the task of bringing Smoky and Bill Wynne to life!
Dave has recently returned to songwriting and music composition. He suggests listening to "Dreamer" and "The Wedding" by Stellarworld® on Blackpool Records®! He also notes that the short film Angel in a Foxhole can still be viewed via streaming at Vimeo.com
