Dan Steelman is an aviation historian, seasoned museum professional, and author. His lifelong passion for flight—particularly military aviation—began in his youth after reading Captain Ted Lawson’s classic Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. Over the course of his career, he was responsible for a remarkably diverse range of artifacts, from dinosaur fossils to relics of the Hindenburg, as well as Apollo-era spacecraft. He retired from museum service in 2021.
Dan is currently a volunteer at the United States Air Force Armament Museum at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. He is a member of the Air Force Historical Foundation, the Military Writers Society of America, and Word Weavers International.
