Daniel Yamun Ukang, of the South Sudan Luo tribe, immigrated to San Diego, California in 2001 as a refugee from the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya where he lived for more than a decade with sixteen thousand other Lost Boys. He is the president of the California Sudanese Lost Boys and Girls Foundation, a nonprofit organization that fosters community-based assistance to the San Diego Lost Boys and provides school supplies to Awoda Primary School in South Sudan.  Daniel enjoys playing soccer, listening to gospel music, and spending time with his family. He lives in San Diego with his wife, Mary, and their four children.
