Damon A. Powell, Ph.D., is a writer, visual artist, theologian, yoga teacher, and mystic who currently resides in Emeryville, California. Dr. Powell’s focus is primarily upon the intersections of art, aesthetics, and spirituality. Damon’s insights come from extensive research into a wide range of spiritual and philosophical concepts that have provided him with a deep understanding of the various ways the spiritual and physical interpenetrate one another. Damon’s creations are the result of ongoing spiritual practices that provide insights that he births into written or visual form.
Damon is also the author and illustrator of When We Pray: 8 Meditations on the Aesthetics of Prayer & the Spiritual Life. He is also a yoga teacher and practicing visual artist who creates spiritually themed works in watercolor, acrylic, or scratchboard. All of Damon’s visual creations serve his mission statement, “To give divine light form through the manifestation of images that encourage reflection upon the myriad ways that Spirit reveals itself in our world.”
