Hi! Thanks for visiting my page!

ABOUT ME

I'm Christine Iway Nedeau, MD, the author and illustrator of BRAVO! BRAVO! This is my first book. I am a board-certified family physician in a full-time practice, a wife, and a mom to a blended family of five children, 2 dogs, and a cat. I was born in the Philippines, then immigrated to the US when I was a toddler and grew up in a rural farming community in Kansas. I received a BA in Biology/Psychology from Baylor University, then went on to study genetics and immunology at Creighton Graduate School. I received my medical degree from the same medical school as my parents, the Cebu Institute of Medicine in Cebu City, Philippines. From there, I went on to internship and Family Medicine residency in Phoenix, AZ before settling into practice in the Midwest.

ABOUT THE BOOK

BRAVO! BRAVO! is very personal to me- it is based on my daughter, Cara, and her journey in overcoming anxiety, more specifically- stage fright. When she was a young child, she was often frozen with fear when there was an audience. Her anxiety symptoms were always physical-  as if she were coming down with the flu!

BRAVO! BRAVO! will demonstrate how important it is to work through challenges and fear to achieve self-confidence and a sense of pride in one's personal abilities. The story will also resonate with the supporters of the child- whether this is a parent, teacher, or friend. The way support is provided (or not) can shape the future self-confidence in the child. I am proud that I was able to support my daughter through all the events that challenged her and help her see how strong and bold she is! Watching her overcome anxiety and gain confidence has been wonderful to see.

I hope that Cara's story will help others grow in confidence and be bold!

Thanks for reading it! Please share with anyone who might need a little extra support through anxious times.
