A Joynson grew up at the Arctic Circle in Finland, where the wilderness fed her vivid imagination and forest adventures began just beyond her front door. It seems only natural that her first children’s book series would begin with an elf whose home is tucked inside an old tree stump. As a mother of grown children, she hopes to pass on her Finnish heritage to new generations of young explorers through stories filled with humor and imagination.

Her Tuu the Elf series invites children and the grown-ups reading beside them into a world of woodland adventures, animal friends, and a loving elf family. Tuu is small, curious, and full of plans, although the world doesn’t always cooperate with them. From northern forests to faraway jungles, his adventures bring gentle humor, unexpected discoveries, and little moments of growing up. Along the way, his quiet determination—his Finnish sisu—hints that there may be more to this little elf than anyone expects.

A graduate of DePaul University in Chicago, with a major in finance and a minor in German, A Joynson now splits her time between Finland and Florida. Her Finnish roots remain close to the heart of her stories, where wool socks, dear friends, and the wonders of nature are never far away.
