Joe Fairbanks has always seen the world through a lens of curiosity and compassion. His love for animals — especially horses, dogs, and small farm creatures — humanity — forestry — has shaped both his art and his outlook on life. A self-taught photographer, Joe finds joy in capturing the small, often overlooked wonders of nature: the curve of a tree trunk, the texture of ancient stone, the shimmer of water.

Whether it be through his photography or his illustrations, Joe shares a universal message — that creativity knows no boundaries, and every person has a story worth seeing. With lens or pen in hand, he translates what he feels into images and drawings that invite us to observe.

Living with Down syndrome, Joe’s achievements as an artist and humanitarian continue to inspire families, educators, and advocates around the world. His work invites us all to slow down, look closer, and rediscover the beauty that exists in both nature and human resilience. As Joe himself often says, “Can’t help it. I love my work!”
