Born under Ohio’s open skies, Dan’s first treasure was a glittering quartz and gold pebble he found in a backyard creek. That spark ignited a lifelong obsession with the Earth’s hidden riches. Trading a pocket-sized rock kit for a battered gold pan and equipment, he has since chased veins of gold from the rolling Midwest hills to the pine‑scented rivers of the Southeast, across the stark deserts of the West, and into the icy, gold‑laden streams of Canada’s Yukon and Alaska.
Dan’s quests are more than a hunt for ore. While sluicing and dredging riverbeds and combing abandoned areas, he’s brushed against the uncanny midnight sounds and distant howls that defy explanation, and the palpable sense of unseen eyes watching from the shadows. His equipment and encounters have put his equipment on the cover of Gold Prospecting Magazine (Jan/Feb 2022) and in two editions of Doug Wallace’s Bigfoot books, cementing his reputation as a bridge between the material and the mysterious.
