Founded in May 2018, the USS Indianapolis (CA 35) Legacy Organization is a membership based non-profit 501(c)3. It arose from a grassroots movement among volunteers to focus on activities that carry the story into the future and bring honor to this historical ship and her crew. The USS Indianapolis CA-35 Survivors Organization has wholeheartedly endorsed our organization.
The Legacy Organization is almost completely comprised of family members of Survivors, Lost-at-Sea, Rescue and Recovery crew, Honorary Survivors, and former crew. Membership is also open to people who are connected to the story in some way, such as friends, reunion volunteers, namesake crew, and others who have been involved in sharing the story of the USS Indianapolis.
