Ross Young is the Director of UK based charity The Zuri Project Uganda. He founded the charity in 2015 and spends his time between the UK and Uganda. He is a strong advocate against voluntourism and continues to research the negative impacts that voluntourism projects often have in the communities in which they are delivered. His book, Tie Up the Lion, is an exploration of the concept of 'voluntourism' and offers practical advice to people who wish to spend time volunteering abroad, to ensure they don't fall foul to the thousands of projects around the world that do very little to support the people they claim to help. Based on his own experiences, first of being a voluntourist and then latterly working as an International Development consultant, Ross introduces a world that questions motives and morality and helps people to change their outlook on how to make a positive contribution to people's lives in different parts of thr world.
