Roberta Moon has been training and empowering people to elect, win, keep, and succeed in a career since 1986. She is an All-American awarded collegiate swimmer with a lifelong high level of drive and competitiveness. Armed with a degree from UC Santa Barbara, she answered a help wanted advertisement in the Los Angeles Times that said, “Do you like to help people?” Little did she know that procuring that job would be the beginning of a lifelong career and an impactful introduction to her husband, Daniel “Hawk” Moon. Hawk, internationally recognized as an author and leader in empowerment and team-building training, shared his brand of restorative healing for everybody, and by extension, to their communities. Roberta envisioned Hawk’s knowledge as the perfect complement to her career success training programs.
Starting out as a headhunter, in a room full of chain-smoking older women, was an eye-opening experience. Roberta observed some terrible realities of employment, and she decided to work toward change and inclusivity in employment. Roberta’s first foray into career/empowerment training was in 1989, setting up the Permanent Placement Division at Larson Training Centers in Orange County, CA, and training their staff to interview and prepare graduates for finding a job. At age twenty-five, Roberta was promoted to a district manager position for a staffing service, with offices in Orange and Los Angeles County. She was responsible for training and managing a crew of recruiters and sales staff.
Roberta worked in staffing during low and high unemployment rates, the common thread being that unemployed people are very distressed regardless of unemployment rates. Empowering distressed candidates became natural for Roberta, and career training was the cure. She developed and has been invited to present career and employment-related seminars with the local chamber of commerce, school districts, county library systems, community colleges, and EDD offices throughout Southern California.
In 1997, Roberta and Hawk opened Market Wise Staffing. Their mission was to combine expertise in career and empowerment training to revolutionize the process of electing, winning, keeping, and succeeding in a career. In 2007, they sold Market Wise Staffing and opened Thunder Staffing and Business Development practicing the same winning combination. Hawk and Roberta also hosted an award-winning radio show on empowerment training and career success that was broadcast in the United States and internationally.
Roberta has traveled the world, working with candidates and companies in the areas of employment coaching, staffing, team building, public relations, human resources, sales and marketing training, and personal empowerment training. To date, she has interviewed over thirty-five thousand candidates and hired over seven thousand employees to work at her own companies. Her mission is to coach everyone, to discover career success, and empowerment.
