Rita Wray Miller is a humble soul, a free spirit, adopted at the age of five, which compelled her to make an impact on the lives of others. She discovered that she could weave a thread of appreciation of her life’s journey in this very honest, entertaining, and heartwarming story. She brings her witty and vivid memories to life right before your eyes, in hopes that her reality will awaken your imagination.

As she traveled toward adulthood, many offered a hand along the way. None of the individuals are blood relatives, but each one planted seeds of love, understanding, patience, and, encouragement in her. She learned from them that being determined and focused while walking to the beat of her own drum was how to become the person she was destined to be. Never giving up, never giving in, but in all things keep moving forward toward the destination. It was not always necessary to have a defined plan, but it was definitely essential to have a vision.

Rita is a servant leader on many levels, who has spent her life honoring, serving, and working to improve the lives of others. She has served as an executive for three non-profit agencies and a program administrator for municipal and state government agencies. Each role allowed her to demonstrate and practice the lessons and values learned along the journey outlined in her memoir.

She enjoys gardening, traveling, and time with family and friends. Rita is married to Gerald Miller and they reside in Richmond, VA.
