I have earned a Bachelor (1975) and Master (1978) degree in Mathematics from UMass-Amherst. Upon graduation, I worked for 18 years at AT&T-Bell Laboratories in a variety of applied research and product development organizations. After leaving Bell Labs in 1996 I worked as both a direct employee and consulting software engineer with countably many start-ups and enterprises (e.g., Cisco, EMC, Schneider-Electric, Enterasys, many more...) developing a diverse range of software based products and solutions across multiple technology domains from Network Management, Cyber Security, and remote Tele-Medicine.
Upon retirement in 2020, I returned to my first love - Mathematics - both as a reader and author. My goal was to present motivated high school students (and perhaps recreational math enthusiasts) a peek at the enormous breadth of the discipline called Mathematics and the interplay among its many sub-disciplines. I have often wished I had received such an exposure when I was in grade school.
The entire process of composing these monographs has been wonderfully satisfying: from coming up with a topic, researching its history and development, trying to understand it fully myself, and finally presenting it in a manner accessible to a high school student. Expository to be sure but interspersed with significant and comprehensible mathematics throughout.
This author would very much appreciate feedback and critique with respect to the above stated agenda. See below for available print editions of my monographs. I can be contacted directly for signed copies. Lastly, PDF versions of a monograph are also available. Contact the author directly via the email link below.
