Shafiqur Rahman was a son of a prominent scholar, Fazlur Rahman who brought Near Eastern Studies to the University of Chicago. In Shafiqurs later academic years, he decides to drop out of college against his fathers permission.
It would take Shafiqur thirty years of long hard journey of dark and unforgivable experiences and actions to realize his life was headed to an abyss of destruction. Within himself he rose to the studies natural philosophy, arts and sciences.
From the awfulness that laid within him he continued to study and learn and expand his mind of knowledge and intellectual freedom. This has brought many forms of inner thoughts which he finally laid out in his first book, "Philosophical Poems"
