Paulette "PK" Johnson lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband, Si Bob Johnson, Jr., who is a retired Air Force officer. There, while sorting through storage bins left behind by her father-in-law, Si Johnson, Sr., she uncovered a remarkable collection of family history.
Among the items was a diary that would ultimately inspire this book. As PK read about his remarkable MIA journey, she felt a deep calling to share his story. Along the way, unexpected discoveries and timely connections often seemed to affirm that his story was meant to be told.
Encouraged by her husband, children and grandchildren, PK set out to honor Lieutenant Silas Johnson's courageous and harrowing journey through the written word.
PK earned a degree in business from the University of Miami and a master's in community education from the University of South Carolina. She is also the author of two other books: Wings of Our own:Heroes, Happenings and History of Air Force Spouses and Alexandria, VA at Your Fingertips.
