Born in Tennessee, raised in Virginia, he returned to his family's home state for higher education and to raise his family. As a Tennessee practicing attorney for 45 years, he draws inspiration from the Appalachian and Great Smoky Mountains landscape. His background in property law informs the legal and moral conflicts at the core of the novel SEIZIN. His essays have appeared in the Knoxville News Sentinel, The Freeman, The Atlanta Constitution, AAA Going Places, Southern Reader as well as other publications.
