Hello! My name is Larry Carey. I have been an educator for over a decade. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and attended Columbus City Schools. I am a graduate of Ohio Dominican University and Ashland University. I have received awards that include but are not limited to the Jamie Brandt Building Award, Ohio Black Expo Educator award, and 10tv Classroom Hero.

The Jamie Brandt award was awarded to Columbus City Schools Early Childhood teachers that showed excellence in the classroom. The Ohio Black Expo Educator award was awarded to educators of color who advocated and excelled in the classroom and beyond. The 10tv Classroom Hero award was an award that your peers nominated you for. It too was for excellence in your daily work with your students and community.

I am excited about the opportunity to have my children’s book published titled “Alliteration Boosts Communication: ABCs of Vocabulary”. This book is for grade levels Pre-K to 8th with a focus on robust vocabulary. Readers will have an opportunity to explore what an alliteration is and how it can be used. They will also gain an understanding of sentence structure and how to decode words by using the illustrations.

My goal is to boost our children’s vocabulary to improve their communication through words at an early age. Studies show that the earlier we boost a child’s vocabulary, the better they are with reading and comprehension. Vocabulary knowledge along with background knowledge provides our students with a better chance of understanding the text they read.

I would like to thank you in advance for your support!  With your help, we can create outcomes for students that are immeasurable. Let’s create the change that we want to see for all our students through reading and learning!
