Growing up in the country, I had nothing to do but use my imagination to create characters. I did have one close friend who rode horses with me. The 1970’s were a turbulent decade. As kids, we felt that deeply. We lived in Northern California very near where the Zodiac did his terrible acts. This had an impact on us. My friend and I missed the hip 1960’s as we were too young. I always felt I was on the fringe of something big happening. I’m influenced by my teenage years in the 1970’s, often using that as the timeframe in my novels. With my recollections, I incorporate those ideas into my writings.
Now happily married and settled, there are times I long for those crazy days.
