Reading A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle opened my world and love of reading. I grew up asking for and listening to our family stories then writing them down. Like how my grandmother saved her sick calf by serving her tea with milk and sugar.
I also like numbers and math. I’m a mechanical engineer who designed injection molded parts when working in research and development at Hewlett-Packard. Then after getting my MBA I wrote stories about Hewlett-Packard products in their marketing department. These stories have been translated in many languages around our wonderful world. My love of science brought me into the elementary school classroom where we swirled colors in milk, made compasses out of needles, erupted volcanoes, and so much more!
I’ll always be grateful for my 4th grade teacher who encouraged my writing. She gave me a purple paisley notebook at the end of the school year so I’d keep writing over the summer. I did! And I’m still writing everyday - creative writing, poetry, and family history stories.
