Author Info

Jon is a retired Wall Street and Pension Fund executive, born in England but who has lived in the US for the last 40+ years. He lives in San Francisco, California.

His qualifications for writing a book about rugby come from of a lifetime of engagement in the sport; playing in his youth; refereeing briefly in middle age;  and as a lifelong supporter and spectator.

Jon's current engagement in rugby is two-fold: as a writer and in the development of the game in the United States. As a resident of the Bay Area in California since 2018 he has been researching the current state and growth potential of rugby as a community activity. As highlighted in "Scrums, Lineouts & Tries", community-based rugby goes well beyond a few guys throwing a ball around. It can act as a glue for local communities, providing activity, entertainment and purpose through sport. This is especially relevant in inner-city communities where the opportunities for growth through sport are limited.

Jon's writing credits include magazine articles on financial topics such as emerging markets investment and financial risk, while managing money for a large corporate pension fund; and a Communications Handbook for Investor Relations personnel published in 2015.
