Jaime A. Pineda is Professor of Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, and Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. For 28 years, he directed the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory where he explored the relationship between mind and brain. His work resulted in many cited papers in animal and human cognitive and systems neuroscience. He is the editor of one academic book (Mirror Neurons—Humana Press, 2009). Dr. Pineda has also been interested in spiritual matters for over twenty years. This led to an exploration of Zen Buddhism, training with a master teacher, and development of his creative side. This interest led to the publication of two books of poetry (Quieting of a Mind; Dawning of a New Mind—AuthorHouse, 2017, 2019) focusing on mind-brain relationships with an emphasis on spirituality, mysticism, environmentalism, and social activism. His most recent book is a nonfiction autobiography (Piercing the Cloud: Encountering the Real Me—BookBaby, 2020).
