I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York by parents who escaped the Jim Crow South. Brooklyn in the eighties was a far different place and crime and drug abuse was the landscape. But in all that mayhem and poverty we had love and true friendships. My time as a kid was spent in gangs and running the neighborhood with friends. Though my life would change with the death of my mother at 13 and the murder of my best friend at 15 who was also my rap partner. I transitioned from rap to poetry in high school when a poetry teacher at my high school discovered this talent. The rest is how they say history. My poetry is a journey of urban life, from the street to college graduate. Of being a christian. Of being a father and most importantly being human.
