I have experienced trauma personally and encountered traumatized individuals throughout my careers as a New York City prosecutor, ordained minister and hospital chaplain. As a chaplain resident, embedded with a trauma surgical team in a level one urban trauma hospital, I struggled to find a path toward hope for my patients and their families. So, I determined to dig deep into my life, find training avenues, reading every book about trauma and putting trauma informed care into practice so that I might find the fortitude needed to look trauma in the eye and accept its presence in my own life.
I created a website, newsletter and now podcast, committed to exploring the intersections of faith, spirit, trauma and loss. My goal is to unearth pathways for embracing our values like mercy, compassion, empathy, hope and love that can help us through times of adversity, stress and anxiety. My goal is to continue to build community with others so we may strengthen each other in our faith, lift up our sacred values and walk together in a loving commitment to building a better future. My book, Walk with Me, encourages us to embrace our own woundedness so that we can become sources of healing and hope for ourselves and others.
