Dwight Boddorf is a municipal executive, Marine Corps veteran, and award-winning public-sector innovator whose work focuses on rebuilding the systems that sustain American communities. A Purple Heart recipient and veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he served with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion and carried those battlefield lessons into a civilian career dedicated to public service, institutional stability, and community resilience.
Dwight currently serves as municipal manager in Pennsylvania, where he oversees complex operations including water and electric utilities, public works, code enforcement, and intergovernmental partnerships. His leadership has helped the community earn major state recognitions, secure competitive grants, modernize internal systems, and build regional models for cooperation, including a successful police merger and the development of a first-of-its-kind regional EMS authority.
He is the author of The Municipal Battlefield: Leading, Surviving, and Winning in Small-Town Government, a no-nonsense field manual inspired by his experiences leading through crisis, navigating entrenched structures, and building durable institutions. His work has been recognized by Pittsburgh Magazine’s 40 Under 40, multiple government innovation awards, and national veterans leadership programs.
Dwight lives in Western Pennsylvania with his family, where he continues to write, teach, and build the next generation of resilient local-government leaders.
