Dawn Warren Evans moves through life collecting both stories and flavors. A Pittsburgh native whose heart beats to the rhythms of jazz, Dawn’s journey has taken her from smoky jazz clubs to festival stages, and from family kitchens to late-night meals around the world. Married to Grammy-nominated pianist Orrin Evans, she’s spent over twenty-five years immersed in a vibrant, creative community.

As a vocalist, publicist, manager, promoter, and lifelong culinary explorer, Dawn has learned that food—like music—is a language of love, improvisation, and connection. Gathering recipes from chefs, grandmothers, and fellow jazz wives, she transforms simple, everyday ingredients into soulful, memorable meals. Her kitchen is a place of curiosity and generosity, where tradition meets fearless creativity.

Dawn’s Summertime Jazz Kitchen is a reflection of her spirited approach to life and cooking and love of gardening. She invites you to trust your instincts, embrace a little mess, and find the magic that happens when food and music come together. For Dawn, great meals, like great music, come from the heart.
