My parents came to the Pacific Northwest in hopes of finding employment and opportunities that was not available in Vermont. They settled in Hillsboro Oregon and were soon employed and purchasing there first home.
I attended local schools Peter Boscow and Hillsboro Hilhi. It was the center of our lives for several years and where we developed long term friendships.
My father had extensive skills in all the trades. He could frame, wire, plumb, hunt and fish. This was not limit of his skills developed during the days of the country’s depression. Through a succession of projects and ventures he passed these skills along to his children so that they also would be self-sufficient.
After high school I worked at jobs in appliance repair, finish carpentry, black smith and other various trades. Eventually I returned to college and attended Oregon State University. My return to college also brought me into contact with my future wife through a circuitous road of friends and acquaintances.
I worked as a mechanical engineer after college but eventually found my niche in the Information Technology field working with networks, storage systems, servers and operating systems.
Currently I live in the country with my calico cat Abby, but still not far from Hillsboro. I retired from Information technology and have started my next adventure.
