Chad Holland served for nearly two decades with the Brooklawn, Somerdale, and the notoriously dangerous Camden, New Jersey police departments-surviving on instincts, training, and the love and trust of his partners.

Officer Holland (ret.) shares the story of his early life and through his police career, which included stints in patrol, investigative, and elite units. Reflecting on some of the most horrific and tragic events that defined his life’s work, as well as corruption of fellow officers and the failures of police leadership, it is through this accumulation of tragedies that lead to his suffering from devastating psychological effects; including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety, and Depression, forcing him to leave police work, and left him to struggle with the psychological damage-including near suicide.

Raw, honest, and compelling-Chad provides a breathtaking account of what it’s like to live in the split second moments a police officer has to act in order save lives, as well as the dreadfulness of having to take a life. He provides in vivid detail what it’s like to psychologically drown in the emotions these terrifying moments leave forever upon you.

Chad currently works in the financial industry. He is a volunteer trained listener with Copline–a crisis intervention hotline for first responders, their family members, and loved ones. Chad is very involved in the mission of preventing law enforcement suicide. His hobbies include CrossFit, travel, reading, sports, spending time with his family, and watching his younger son play ice hockey.
