Carolyn Clark Miller is the daughter of a World War II fighter pilot and the granddaughter of two Army colonels. Married to an Air Force officer for 20 years, she was a military dependent for the first 38 years of her life. This is her story of what it was like: the frequent uprootings; the years as a single parent; the changes in schools sometimes more than once a year; the sorrows and the joys; the disappointments and the triumphs. Not all the heroes of military service wore the uniform.
