The Author, Beverly W. Hicks, is a proud mother of two sons, a doting BeMa to six precious grandchildren, a retired nurse, and a current Realtor. After experiencing increasing periods of memory loss and forgetfulness, Beverly received the horrific diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment due to Early-Stage Alzheimer’s Disease, a frightening disease whereby individuals literally lose their minds and are very much unaware of it happening. Now that’s scary.

Driven by her faith and love to help and be a blessing to others, Bev set aside all embarrassment and privacy blocks to share her journey publicly during June 2026 Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. The overwhelming wave of phone calls, text messages, and shared tears from people experiencing the exact same struggles or having a friend or family member with memory lapses, was also enough to prove that this message needed a permanent home. She turned this transition in her life into a mission that is dedicated to shattering the stigmas surrounding memory loss, spreading early detection awareness, and providing an undeniable roadmap of hope, victory, and divine inspiration for families navigating this journey. After receiving her certification in Dementia therapy, The Lord commissioned her to write the vision and make it plain so that those who read it will know and run tell others that, “It’s Not Just About Aging, Early Detection Does Matter.” “My Journey with Alzheimer’s Disease” is written plain and interactive for its readers. This book is published by Beverly’s newly founded organization, TIPS (Teaching, Inspiring and Praying Sisters).

“My Journey with Alzheimer's Disease” (My JAD), is not a story of tragedy but a journey with a message of hope. Don’t wait. Turn the first page today and discover why your timeline and your voice matters.
