Art Seymour has had a lifelong obsession with glass, especially colored glass.  Reared in the Nevada desert country he fell in love with a blue glass prism paperweight of his grandmother’s at the age of five and was forever changed by that experience, Now at age 77 glass still commands his attention, quite often to the exclusion of other of life’s demands. From digging antique glass bottles in his early teens to making stained glass once out of the military, to making a career in hot glass work blowing production art glass, to making complex chevron beads and many evolutionary successors of the chevron which he developed over 40 years, he remains focused on one or more aspects of glass daily. When not actually working with his beloved material, he is thinking or dreaming about it in one way or another from new designs to make, to techniques and/or equipment  to facilitate bringing them to life.  it is not just a job for him, it is his life. He has traveled extensively with his glass to include going to Ghana, west Africa to share techniques with beadmakers there and had Ghanaian beadmaker Cedi to his Nevada studio for two glass workshops. Still working with glass, Seymour has produced this book, Colors of Obsession about his life with glass.
