About the author


Kristi Nelson has loved art since she was a child. She received her BA in Studio Arts with a minor in Art History from The University of Houston. Kristi is a certified k-12 art teacher who spent 5 incredible years teaching Art 1, Advanced Drawing and Advanced Painting at Waller High School. Kristi received many teacher appreciation certificates at WHS and her most prized possessions are the letters in which she received from her students throughout the course of her teaching. Kristi married the love of her life, Michael in 2011 and they now have 3 beautiful children. Luke, Lily and Summer. Kristi enjoys creating art with her children and blogging about mom life in her spare time. Kristi enjoys mixing an array of mediums when she works on an art project and loves the use of color. The process for her tribute portraits, includes an exploration of the details in the eyes of her subjects by using colored pencils. She ventures out to pastel sticks along with heavy bodied acrylic paint. She mixes her mediums in every piece of art she creates depending on the feelings that she is presented with during the artistic process.
