About the author
La Dra. Nelly Santos es catedrática emérita De Baruch College, City University of New York. Actualmente reside en Florida. Es autora (con la Dra. K.J. Hampares) de Spanish: A Modular Approach (vols. I,II, III), Harper & Row (1976); Paso a Paso (Holt, Rinehard, Winston (1978); Español Comercial, Harper & Row (1981). Ha contribuído innumerables ensayos de crítica literaria y estilística sobre la  poesía española contemporánea y el feminismo en prestigiosas revistas literarias internacionales como Cuadernos Americanos (México), Revista Interamericana (Puerto Rico), Cuadernos Americanos (España), Cuadernos del Guayas (Ecuador), entre otras. Ha sido ganadora de becas y fellowships de la Ford Foundation y Woodrow Wilson. En 1972 la Universidad de Guayaquil publicó su primer libro Temario, conjunto de relatos y poemas. La Dra. Santos comparte su interés en el estudió del haiku. El presente compendio de tres libros poéticos(Habitando su nombre, Deshabitada, Renglones de la espera) es muestra de su preferencia por el verso libre de 5/7/5 en los que sobresalen tres temas, amor, soledad, muerte, en sus distintas variaciones. La composición de este compendio data de 1972-2000. Mantiene inéditos Port de mer, Haikus, Tankas y otras piruetas literarias, Perfil del agua clara, Temática en 5/7/5. Además, un estudio crítico sobre la poesía de  Pedro Salinas: La voz del exilio en la poesía De Pedro Salinas.
