The Wild Sonnet is a variation of the traditional form that I’ve designed which provides me with a unique signature and architecture for my written work.
This version of the poetic form is comprised of two seven-line stanzas, each capped with a rhyming couplet. The other rhymes, where they occur, are in turn internal. The meter is based on the iambic pentameter associated with the tradition of the sonnet, but I relax it when the poem seems to want to breathe and sing a little more naturally.
I write 2-3 new poems a week, and when I reach the next 100, I collect them into a gorgeous paperback edition, available here on Bookbaby/Bookshop.
There is also a digital version for Kindle and Apple iBooks – which can be found here.
I have currently written over 200 Wild Sonnets - and have discovered the form to be uniquely suitable to the types of insights and questions I want to pose poetically.
Each poem is a joy to write – and I hope you enjoy reading them as well.
